About Dr. Valachi

Dr. Bethany Valachi, PT, DPT, MS, CEAS is author of the book, "Practice Dentistry Pain-Free: Evidence-based Strategies to Prevent Pain & Extend Your Career", clinical instructor of ergonomics at OHSU School of Dentistry in Portland, OR and Ergonomics Editor for DPR magazine.  A doctor of physical therapy who has worked exclusively with dental professionals for 20 years, she is recognized internationally as an expert in dental ergonomics and has provided over 700 dental lectures worldwide.  She has published more than 50 articles in numerous peer-reviewed dental journals. She is a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist and consults with universities and practicing dental professionals to improve ergonomics, work more comfortably and extend their careers.   Bethany is a member of the National Speaker's Association and an AGD PACE approved CE provider.   

Prior to physical therapy, Bethany was a classical piano performance major.  She taught piano and performed for over 15 years.  She now also enjoys playing blues piano, riding her Andalusian/Morgan horse in dressage competition and on trails, downhill skiing and exploring nature with her husband, Keith.


Dr. Keith Valachi, DDS operates a dental practice in Portland, Oregon and is a published author in dental journals, including the JADA and Dentistry Today. Dr. Valachi has worked with dental manufacturers to trial and evaluate their ergonomic products and has provided valuable insight to the development of an effective injury prevention program for dental clinicians.
